CommissionsTurn your favorite place into a painting!
Here's how it works:
1) Email me a photo of a landscape. 2) Next, we work out the details together: size, main colors, etc. 3) Depending on my current workload, you receive your one-of-a-kind original painting within a couple of weeks. I want you to be completely happy with your new work of art! If, for whatever reason, you are not completely satisfied with the artwork, I will do my best to make it right. |
Still interested? Here's the nitty-gritty details.
Reference photos: If you have a certain landscape in mind, one photo often works. However, more than one photograph would be helpful for me to get a feel for the area. If you would like me to photograph and sketch the area, we can build that into the process.
Size constraints: Because of the time involved for design and consultation work, I cannot do commissions less than 18"x24" in size. I can create work as large as you like.
Process: There are three parts to the process: picking a landscape, design work, and the finished product.

- Picking a Landscape: Once we agree on a landscape and sign a contract, I will ask you to pay 10% of the base price of the painting to fund the design work and to sign a contract.
- Design Work: After we get the administrative work completed, we start the fun part! I will make several compositional sketches for the piece. It's expected that you get to be part of the creative process. Based on our conversations, I will incorporate your suggestions to the design. Once we are in agreement about what the final painting entails, we will finalize the cost together. It is rare, but possible, that commissioned work costs more than one of my regular pieces. Travel, requests for more expensive materials, building custom supports for the paintings, frames, and shipping large pieces, can all contribute to price increases. I promise to be very transparent with you along the way. Only good surprises. After we agree on all the details, I will ask you to pay 50% of the total cost of the painting.
- Finished!: After finishing your original fine art, I will send you digital pictures. Upon your approval, I will ask you to pay the remaining balance (40%). Then I will ship you your one-of-a-kind painting!
Feel free to email me with any questions.
